Langar

Langar is a free community meal, cooked and served by volunteers and eaten sitting together. It is served to everyone who comes — Sikh or not, and whether or not you have been before.

To confirm — when Langar is served. The times above are taken from the published programme, where each Diwan ends with “Langar follows” — they are observed practice rather than something the BOD has confirmed (register A4, A14).

Families sponsor a Langar for the Sangat — often to mark an anniversary, a birth, or the memory of someone. Seva means voluntary service, and this is one of its ordinary forms.

Payment is never required to reserve a date. You may offer Seva at Gurdwara Sahib, or online afterwards, whichever suits you.

If you are cooking Langar

  • Langar items must not contain egg or meat.
  • Please avoid nuts in Langar items. This Gurudwara Sahib is a Nut-Free zone.
  • Degh is prepared at Gurdwara Sahib. Outside degh is not allowed.
  • Snacks and groceries are the Sevak Parivar's responsibility.
  • The Sevak Parivar is asked to be present and be involved during Langar preparation.
